Very nice cover, but the intro part is not played on a tuned-down acoustic, it's regular 7-string electric.
@@Surmoka I did double it with electric. Plus I think he was using a piezo, so I felt it sounded more like original on acoustic since I don’t have an electric with a piezo

excellent composition sir. I think Hank Williams jr. just sat up and said "Can a Country boy survive, now!!? (just kidding Hank) love the prog fire u lite into country long time ago ). I just found your channel last week. Im a old rush ect.. style, intermediate guitarist still play by ear . I can play relatively fast after 3 three weeks of tempo build, with bends tremolo bar and riffs. I still sound decent jamming But I'm definitely blind as to where im going scale wise mostly. I have been wanting to achieve for a long time, what u do, but cut in half, unless im being chased by the malmsteen police lol. Is there a scales riffs download, free or paid. Very happy and proud with how much work, and time, u put into these videos, and generous in your knowledge. God bless and well wishes to u and yours

@@TheProgSchool Thank you for responding and thank you for the link. I got sick and had to quit my job in June, I wish I came across this sooner, was homeless a few times. I used hold a sign for food ect..If I had to, so now ill hold a sign saying "I need money for the "Prog School" and see what happens, Hank Williams jr. may drive by and throw me a c-note (I Honestly didn't plan that, and again Im kidding Hank.) No with your humanitarians outlook pricing, I and many will be okay thanks again. Contact you when I employ some of yours techniques and skills, to my songs for credits whatever they are to be, but setting a goal till June 2025. I have same goal for my books, and teaching on spiritual things, I have already started. You might learn a few things from me even, if your interested in monsters, we have real ones too lol. But the fun part is, how you get to defeat them. take care

This band has always been a one hit wonderer for me for a long time. I might give them another shot. I like this route. Always happy to hear you go over bands. You ever listen to Persefone? Thats one of my all time favorite bands. I think youd like them. Spiritual Migration is their best album. Im sure youve heard of Fallujah. Great band for you to get into if you havent though. Their riffs and the atmosphere really put you into a different plane. For both bands really.

I agree with your picks for #1 and #10. V is a really great prog metal album front to back and it has a unique theme. I would personally put Underworld and Iconoclast higher on the list than you did. Iconoclast was my first introduction to Symphony X and that album will always hold a special place in my memories.
@@208414 nostalgia can definitely play a role in rankings, I got into Symphony X before the heavier albums so I’m biased towards that earlier sound.
Nice list! I have the same ranking, except I would swap Iconoclast and Underworld, and The Odyssey and Divine Wings. Those 2 albums are really tight, though!

Yup! Both have some incredible tunes (the title tracks, The Accolade I & II, Awakenings and Candlelight), some good songs (Inferno, Wicked, King of Terrors, Out of the Ashes, Sea of Lies, Of Sins and Shadows, Medusa) and a few average ones (Incantations, Turning, Pharaoh, Witching). It is VERY close. I love Accolade I even more than its sequel, but Awakenings just about edges Candlelight. Then it's down to the battle of the Giants 😅 which is quite an impossible task, and could change depending on my mood I guess. But for the pure neo-classical brilliance, I THINK Divine edges it...possibly 🤪
And of course, V belongs at the top. Just a PERFECT album from start to finish, with Communion and the Oracle being up there with The Odyssey and Divine Wings. And yes, Symphony X is my favorite band. They were my gateway to Prog, with the discovery of the song Paradise Lost as a 20 year old in 2009. They had the same impact as Blind Guardian had in my teens: each song I discovered was better than the last, in this wonderful musical OBSESSION. Now, times change, and I don't listen to them as much as I did, yet still frequently. I'm not a HUGE fan of their last albums, as I feel it's a bit of Michael Romeo solo show 🙃 I have come to realize they will probably never return to the Golden Years around the Millennium. Still, if I were to name a favorite band, all things considered, it has to be Symphony X.
